In her statement, Gaye described the decision as difficult but necessary, noting a misalignment between her personal commitment to inclusivity and democracy and the party\u2019s current trajectory. She expressed gratitude to UDP leader Alhaji A.N.M. Ousainou Darboe and her colleagues for their support during her tenure.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, Khaddyjatou Njie, former 1st Vice President of the UDP Female Wing and National Executive Committee member, also resigned with immediate effect. In her resignation letter, Njie said that after extensive consultations with her family and community, she concluded that remaining in the party no longer served her interests or those of her constituents.
