Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The Gambia Immigration Department (GID) has completed the deportation process of all foreign nationals convicted of cybercrimes\/cyber related offences by the Brikama Magistrates\u2019 Court earlier this month.<\/b><\/p>\n

In a statement issued out Friday, the Department confirmed that the convicts were handed their personal belongings, processed through standard operational procedures including registration in Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS) and other required systems and subsequently departed The Gambia within the ten-day period stipulated by the court.<\/p>\n

The GID expressed concern that while the individuals had complied with immigration requirements during their stay, their conduct undermined the peace and security of the state.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Department reaffirms its respect for migration rights but firmly condemns any conduct, by Gambians or non-Gambian residents that compromises national security. Immigrants are strongly urged to respect national laws, adhere to immigration regulations, and maintain a peaceful and security-conscious presence in the country.\u201d \u201cSimilarly, Gambian nationals who host visitors or serve as accomplices in unlawful activities are reminded of their duty to safeguard the nation\u2019s integrity. National security is a collective responsibility,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n

The Department further stressed that any criminal or immigration offence that threatens the peace and stability of The Gambia would be met with strict regulatory and enforcement measures.<\/p>\n

According to the release, the Immigration Department remains committed to safeguarding national security through strengthened border management strategies and the consistent enforcement of immigration laws.<\/p>\n
