Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>Tobaski Day murder suspect’s trial opens The murder trial of one Foday Jatta has opened yesterday before Justice Ebrima Jaiteh of the High Court in Banjul.<\/p>\n

Foday is alleged to have caused the death of one Yusupha Tabally by stabbing him with a knife in his neck on Tobaski Day [20th July, 2021] at Dippa Kunda.<\/p>\n

The prosecution opened its case yesterday with one Lamin M.Jassey, a lecturer at the Gambia Tourism and Hospitality Institutes testifying as first prosecution witness. Jassey said the incident happened in the morning of Tobaski day when he heard his wife and mother screaming, saying \u201che killed Yusupha.\u201d<\/p>\n

The witness said he dashed to see what happened and saw the accused holding a knife but when he tried to catch him, the accused managed to jump over a fence and escaped.<\/p>\n

The witness told the court that he returned home and found Yusupha repeatedly saying \u201cI am dying, help me.\u201d The witness further told the court that when he asked the victim what happened, he replied that the accused stabbed him and he saw blood oozing from his neck. The 1st witness said the victim was taken to Serekunda General Hospital where he was pronounced dead at the emergency ward. The trial continues.<\/p>\n
