Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has issued a stern warning to school principals across the country, cautioning them against imposing unauthorized levies on incoming Grade 10 students.<\/b><\/p>\n

In a statement, the ministry reaffirmed that the \u201cno levy policy\u201d remains in effect and emphasized that parents and guardians must not be compelled to pay any form of levy in public schools.<\/p>\n

\u201cPrincipals should note that parents and guardians are free to purchase school uniforms or stationery from the school or from any shop or vendor of their choice,\u201d the ministry stated. \u201cThey must only ensure that the uniform is in conformity with the one prescribed by the school. Any principal found in violation of this directive will be dealt with immediately.\u201d<\/p>\n

The ministry further urged members of School Management Committees (SMCs) to report any principal engaged in such unauthorized practices.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis serves as a final and firm warning. The ministry will not hesitate to take swift and decisive action against any violation of these directives,\u201d the statement concluded.<\/p>\n
