Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>National Assembly Member for Foni Kansala, Hon. Almameh Gibba, has alleged that the Gambian government only published the 2021, 2022, and 2023 National Audit Reports because of pressure from international budget support donors.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking on the \u201cVerified\u201d podcast, Hon. Gibba said the government\u2019s decision was not voluntary but driven by external demands.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe government is under pressure. It is not their will. Accountability is a problem for this government,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n

He further claimed that donor institutions had reportedly warned the government that continued budgetary support would depend on the completion and publication of audit reports.<\/p>\n

Hon. Gibba also criticized the government\u2019s overall approach to governance and reform, suggesting that its actions lacked sincerity and progress.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no genuineness in it because if there were genuineness, you would have seen progress in this government. When they came, what laws did they change to suit the aspirations of the Gambian people?\u201d He asked.<\/p>\n

The Foni Kansala lawmaker went on to argue that former President Yahya Jammeh\u2019s removal from office was driven by envy rather than a genuine desire for reform.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is envy. Barrow came less than one year, and he built a mansion. If Adama Barrow wins the third term, we are finished.\u201d Hon. Gibba stated.<\/p>\n
