Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>By Kariamtou Jallow Drivers who plight within the Greater Banjul Area have called for proper garage in Brikama and standard roads in a bid to ease transportation. Speaking to The Voice exclusively, Sulaiman Gibba, a drive said: \u201cwe don\u2019t have proper garage because the place is very small to be called a garage.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe traffic is always jamming which has prompted us to use the back way and that is not good for our vehicles, if we use the main highways it will waste our time because we spend more than an hour before we reach the final destination. That is why we do use the back way to save time and fuel despite it not good for our vehicles,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

Lamin Bajinka, also a driver said the garage is very small and tight and they find it difficult to park their vehicles properly due to the size of the place.<\/p>\n

According to him, the government should intervene and help them with an organized and proper garage in order for them to do their work properly without much difficulty.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Amadou Sarr, a driver said: \u201cWe don\u2019t have proper garage because the place is very small and the traffic is always jam in order to save time and fuel, we chose to use the back way despite it has negative impacts on our vehicles\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI cannot call this a garage; this is a street where we park our vehicles. Fuel is very expensive that is why we charge our customers multiple fares which always bring conflict between us and them. It is not intentionally thing to do but because we have no choice that is why we have to charge them multiple fares to gain profit at the end of the day,\u201d Ousman Sallah lamented. According to him, in order to make their work easy the government should help them with proper garage and good roads.<\/p>\n
