Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The Gambia has been elected to the Fund Approval Committee of the Fund for the Elimination of Doping in Sport during the 10th Session of the Conference of Parties (COP10) to the International Convention Against Doping in Sport, held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France.<\/b><\/p>\n

The announcement was made by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, which described the development as another proud milestone for the country under the leadership of Hon. Bakary Y. Badjie, Minister of Youth and Sports.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis continued efforts in promoting good governance, integrity, transparency, and international cooperation in sports have earned The Gambia growing recognition on the global stage,\u201d the ministry stated.<\/p>\n

The ministry further noted that The Gambia\u2019s election to this key committee underscores the country\u2019s rising influence in global sports governance and anti-doping advocacy. It reaffirmed the government\u2019s commitment to fair play, ethical standards, and international collaboration in sports administration.<\/p>\n

As a member of the Fund Approval Committee, Minister Badjie will join other international representatives to ensure the fair and strategic allocation of funds aimed at promoting clean and equitable sports worldwide.<\/p>\n

The committee\u2019s responsibilities include:<\/p>\n

Overseeing fund disbursements in accordance with COP resolutions and guidelines.<\/p>\n

Leading national and regional advocacy and fundraising initiatives.<\/p>\n

Recommending strategies to enhance resource efficiency.<\/p>\n

Ensuring transparency and accountability in collaboration with the COP Bureau and Secretariat.<\/p>\n

Promoting awareness and capacity-building efforts within their respective regions.<\/p>\n

The Gambia\u2019s inclusion in this high-level body marks a significant step in its growing role in advancing integrity and fairness in global sport.<\/p>\n
