Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>Ahead of 2026 Gambia\u2019s next presidential election, the People\u2019s Alliance Party (PAP) has officially revealed its political party manifesto to the public.<\/b><\/p>\n

The party catalogued national development policies and programmes to alleviate poverty and improve the welfare of Gambians, patriotism, peace, and national cohesion. They dubbed the manifesto as \u201cPAP Charts Bold Vision Ahead of 2026 Elections\u201d.<\/p>\n

Responding to an exclusive interview with this medium, PAP\u2019s President and Secretary-General, Mr. Ebrima Tabora Manneh, says, \u201c<\/b>Our goal is to nurture patriotic citizens who are responsible, self-reliant, and guided by faith, working together to build a fair, just, and caring society for the prosperity and well-being of all Gambians\u201d.<\/p>\n

PAP\u2019s President acknowledged the obvious fact that economic growth and entrepreneurship are strong pillars of PAP\u2019s political vision and aspirations geared towards national development, and empower Gambia\u2019s industrialists and millionaires, targeting about five millionaires yearly from all regions. According to him, these investments are expected to improve growth in sensitive sectors such as agriculture, construction, infrastructure, healthcare, energy, telecommunications, light manufacturing, and technology.<\/p>\n

\u201cPAP plans to prioritize finance, national development, and youth employment, fostering a culture of smart, simple, and sustainable economic practices\u201d, he promised.<\/p>\n

Concerning PAP\u2019s mission, Mr. Manneh registered commitment to what he tagged as fostering a just, free, and fair society built on honesty, responsibility, and civic engagement. He also realised the importance of a strong security framework to protect national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the welfare of Gambians, particularly the youth.<\/p>\n

Mr. Manneh also spoke on social cohesion and sustainable development and proposed to establish councils of esteemed religious and community elders to promote tolerance and harmony, support sustainable agriculture to meet the national food security agenda, and promote value-added exports.<\/p>\n

He also recalled their party\u2019s long political work since 2021, their initial attempt to register PAP with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) to date, and finally registered it on 7 November 2022 after fulfilling IEC\u2019s registration prerequisite.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe party\u2019s initial struggles to register in 2021 were to contest that year\u2019s presidential election under an independent ticket but were rejected by the IEC due to the use of the acronym \u2018PAP\u2019 in our documentation, and we accepted the decision in good faith, though it was unjustified,\u201d he recalled.<\/p>\n

As part of exhibiting patriotism, he said that the party\u2019s symbol is a broom representing unity, while the colours blue and red symbolize the River Gambia and the vibrancy of youth, respectively.<\/p>\n
