Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>By Sainabou Sambou Kanifing Magistrate Court has denied Modou Jobe, an alleged thief who is charged with breaking into house to steal, a bail, though pleaded not guilty to the charge pressed against him.<\/p>\n

The alleged thief appeared before Magistrate Tamara Chaw of the Kanifing Magistrate Court on Thursday. \u201cThe court will allow the accused to react to the application of the prosecutor. The case is adjourned to the 24th January 2022,\u201d Magistrate Tamara Chaw told the court.<\/p>\n

Police Prosecutor Sergeant O Touray told the court that though the offense which the accused is charged considering the amount in the charge sheet. \u201d We are applying for an application in which the accused shall be denied bail,\u201d he said, adding that the witness involved in the case are close friends to the accused and the accused may likely interfere into the witnesses\u2019 testimonies,\u201d he submitted.<\/p>\n

He further stated that the items in the case are exposed and fear that if the accused is given bail he may ran away. According to count one of his particulars of offense, Modou Jobe for did in the year 2021 at Serrekunda in the Kanifing Municipality broke into shop of Modou Jobe with intent to commit felony with stealing.<\/p>\n

While count two of his offence stated that the accussed did on the same day and at the same place stole the following items. 400 rolls of wire valued at D840,000; 5 rolls of raze wire valued at 250,000; 6 cartons of vessel valued at D420,000; 5 dozen of pick axe valued at D62,000; 75 bundle of binding wire valued at D38,750, 900 rolls of barbed wire valued at D38,750; 10 cartons of lens lock valued at D840,000; 4 cartons of mickey lock valued at D4,400; 6 cartons of doff lock valued at D 612,000; 5 cartons of bulbs 5 watts valued at D20,000; 5 cartons of bulbs 9 watts valued at D22,500; 5 cartons of bulbs 13 watts valued at D700; 5 cartons of bulbs 18 watts valued at D 45,000; 5 cartons of bulbs 38 watts valued at D 30,000; 5 cartons of bulbs 48 watts valued at D 17,500 all these summed up to D2,323,200 (two million three hundred and twenty-three thousand two hundred dalasis) being the properties of Modou Jobe.<\/p>\n
