He said the bureau, as the national body responsible for standardization, conformity assessment, and metrology, is committed to promoting product quality, consumer safety, and industrial competitiveness.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Jallow notes that the Bureau operates about 15 technical committees developing standards across different sectors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, we are here to sensitize you on the standards for Good Manufacturing Practices for Cosmetic Products (GAMS ISO 22716) developed by the Technical Committee on Chemicals,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the seminar represented a milestone in efforts to build quality infrastructure for the cosmetics industry, which continued to play an important role in both the economy and public health.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Jallow reaffirmed the Bureau\u2019s commitment to work closely with businesses and stakeholders to promote quality, safety, and compliance across all sectors of the national economy.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the event, Mariama Jorbateh, a trainer on cosmetics and entrepreneurship, described the cosmetics business as \u201cvery marketable and lucrative,\u201d but noted that it remained new in The Gambia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithout having a standard to guide what we should do in terms of production, packaging, and storage, it will be a big issue,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>She explained that while cosmetic production is expanding rapidly, especially through social media platforms like TikTok, many people lack the proper knowledge to produce and package products safely.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is why the Standards Bureau and its partners found it necessary to create a standard to govern this sector,\u201d Jorbateh added.<\/p>\n<p>The training brought together entrepreneurs, producers, and key stakeholders to promote awareness of GMP standards and improve the safety and quality of locally made cosmetic products.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Gambia<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Gambia.
