Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>8 African presidents expected at Barrow’s inauguration At least eight African heads of state are expected to attend President Adama Barrow\u2019s inauguration today.<\/p>\n

A statement from State House yesterday said Faure Gnassingb\u00e9 of Togo, Mohamed Ould Ghazouani of Mauritania, Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone, Umaro Sissoc\u00f2 Embalo of Guinea Bissau and Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana were scheduled to arrive Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The rest of the leaders Macky Sall of Senegal, Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria and George Weah of Liberia are expected to arrive today. President-elect Adama Barrow will be sworn-in for his second mandate after his victory in December 4th 2021 presidential election, winning 53% of the votes.<\/p>\n

He won 43% of the votes in the 2016 election, defeating longtime ruler Yahya Jammeh but was forced to take his oath at the Gambian embassy in Dakar, Senegal as Jammeh refused to step down.<\/p>\n

However, his inauguration and oath-taking ceremony was re-done on home soil in February 2017 as the country celebrated 52 years of nationhood. Meanwhile, US president Joe Biden has sent a delegation to the inauguration, headed by Richard Paschal, the United States ambassador to The Gambia.<\/p>\n
