Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong> <\/span>Sulayman Waan, president of the Gambia Change Front (GCF), has called on Gambians to join his political movement, citing the need for new leadership and a change in policy direction.<\/b><\/p>\n

Waan made the appeal during a political rally held in Changai Wollof, Sami Constituency, in the Wassu Administrative Region, where supporters from the constituency and surrounding areas gathered.<\/p>\n

Addressing the rally, the GCF leader criticised the administration of President Adama Barrow over what he described as the sale and concession of national assets, arguing that such actions were not in the country\u2019s best interest.<\/p>\n

According to him, the disposal and concession of state assets reflect poor governance. He said a government led by the Gambia Change Front would focus on strengthening national institutions through improved financing and human resource development aimed at building sovereign wealth.<\/p>\n

Waan also raised concerns about the health sector, stating that despite significant budget allocations approved by the National Assembly in recent years, service delivery continues to decline. He pledged that a GCF-led administration would prioritise healthcare by improving facilities, ensuring adequate medication supply, investing in modern equipment and expanding the health workforce.<\/p>\n

On agriculture, he outlined proposals intended to support farmers and increase production, including training in modern farming techniques, financial support schemes, promotion of organic fertilisers, establishment of a groundnut processing factory, year-round irrigation projects, livestock development and support for vegetable producers.<\/p>\n

Addressing youth unemployment, Waan said his administration would promote industrialisation, provide grants to entrepreneurs, introduce a five-year tax waiver for young entrepreneurs and a ten-year tax incentive for rural investors, measures he said would stimulate job creation.<\/p>\n

He also criticised the cost of the President\u2019s Meet-the-People tour, claiming that public funds allocated to the exercise since 2017 were excessive. He said a Change Front government would prioritise spending on key sectors such as the economy, healthcare, agriculture, education, energy and improving living standards.<\/p>\n

Several speakers at the rally expressed support for the movement and its leadership.<\/p>\n

Hatab Jaiteh, spokesperson for the Gambia Change Front, said he joined the movement because of its policy platform, which he believes can deliver meaningful development. He urged residents of Sami Constituency, the Central River Region and Gambians nationwide to support the party.<\/p>\n

Sulayman Touray, the movement\u2019s head of religious affairs, said the GCF leadership understands the country\u2019s challenges and has outlined solutions in its manifesto.<\/p>\n

Haruna Jobe, described as a longtime associate of Waan, praised his commitment to national development, while other supporters, including Hawa Kasseh and Changai Wollof resident Hasimium Sidibeh, also called on Gambians, particularly residents of Sami, to rally behind the Change Front leader.<\/p>\n

The rally forms part of the Gambia Change Front\u2019s ongoing outreach efforts as it seeks to expand its support base across the country.<\/p>\n
