Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong> <\/span>The European Union (EU) has supported the Government of The Gambia in launching a web-based system to monitor the implementation of its Recovery-Focused National Development Plan (RF-NDP), aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability, and evidence-based decision-making.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at the launch on Wednesday, EU Ambassador Immaculada Roca i Corte\u0301s said: \u201cToday, we are not just launching a digital tool, we move from the language of intent to the language of impact. A system is only as good as the information it contains. Its success will depend on the commitment of institutions to regularly input accurate and timely data.\u201d<\/p>\n

She urged Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to actively use the platform to unlock its full potential.<\/p>\n

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, Mr. Mod A.K. Secka, added: \u201cThis launch affirms our commitment to transparency, accountability, and evidence-based planning. It ensures that decisions are guided by reliable data and deliver tangible results for the Gambian people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Funded by the EU with EUR 493,346, the system is built on DHIS2 technology, which has already been successfully applied in The Gambia\u2019s health and education sectors. It enables real-time data collection, analysis, and reporting across government institutions.<\/p>\n

The platform tracks 237 indicators across the seven pillars of the RF-NDP. It enhances coordination among MDAs, improves the quality and timeliness of reporting, and strengthens alignment between government priorities and development partner support.<\/p>\n

The system also promotes transparency by making development progress more visible to citizens, reinforcing public trust and the social contract between the Government and the people.<\/p>\n

The initiative includes targeted training for government officials to foster a sustainable culture of data management and support the transition to Programme-Based Budgeting.<\/p>\n

The European Union reaffirmed its commitment to supporting The Gambia\u2019s digital transformation and sustainable development, ensuring that no one is left behind.<\/p>\n
