Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The Independent National Assembly member for Basse, Muhammed Magassy has confirmed he will seek re-election through the National People\u2019s Party in April\u2019s parliamentary elections. Magassy, who is the only NAM elected on an independent ticket at the Assembly, has been serving since 2012.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter due consultations with the people of Basse Constituency and the executives of the National People\u2019s Party, I hereby wish to officially declare my participation in the upcoming National Assembly elections under NPP ticket,\u201d Magassy told The Standard.<\/p>\n

He said the decision is in the best interest of the people of Basse Constituency.<\/p>\n

\u201cHaving served as the elected representative of Basse for two terms as an independent, I feel satisfied and fulfilled. I am grateful for having been granted the privilege to serve in that noble House. I am made an asset thanks to their support and encouragement. I am grateful and I shall continue to serve the people of Basse in their best interest and the general interest of nation building,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The lawmaker expressed gratitude and appreciation to the people of Basse and The Gambia in general for the opportunity given to him to serve in parliament.<\/p>\n
