Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr. John Kwadwo Gyapong, Minister of the Oti Regio, has engaged Presiding Members of the various Municipal and District Assemblies (MDAs) in the region to forge greater collaboration for development.
The meeting aimed to discuss ways to strengthen collaboration between the members and their respective Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) in discharging their mandate.
During the meeting, the Presiding Members reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with the MDCEs to support the shared vision of advancing the development of the region.
They highlighted pressing challenges they faced, including the lack of basic logistics required to effectively carry out their duties.
They also appealed for the Minister’s intervention to help fast-track the completion of critical infrastructure projects, including roads and hospitals, initiated under the previous administration.
The Minister charged them to remain focused, diligent, and cooperative while strictly adhering to their constitutional mandate.
He emphasized the vital role the members play in local governance and encouraged them to lead with integrity, independence, and excellence.
Mr Gyapong noted that some local assemblies were not performing as expected due to a lack of proactive, visionary, and assertive leadership.
The minister urged them to prioritize the needs of the people they serve and the Constitution that empowers them.
The meeting was attended by Presiding Members from various MDAs, including Mr. Rockson Okru (Krachi East Municipal Assembly) Mr. Andrews Jacuith (Jasikan-Buem Municipal Assembly) Mr. Abubakar Al-hassan (Nkwanta North District Assembly) and Mr. Jones Mawuli Peni (Biakoye District Assembly).
The rest were Mr. Kennedy Abotsi (Krachi West Municipal Assembly) Mr. Edward Yilengne (Nkwanta South Municipal Assembly), Mr. John Nteleye Mpoebi (Krachi Nchumuru District Assembly) Mr. Anthony Ahiable (Akan District Assembly).
