Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr Joseph Nelson, the Western Regional Minister, has asked the citizenry to use the maiden National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving service to not only thank God but rededicate themselves to the virtues that make nations strong.
He said: “As a people, we must be willing to reset our values to uphold truth over convenience, peace over provocation, and service over selfish ambition to prosper the nation.”
He said this when the Western Regional Co-ordinating Council, Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan, and Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assemblies, jointly held the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving service, at Sekondi.
It was on the theme: “Reflect, Reset and Renew for National Prosperity”.
Touching on the theme, Mr Nelson noted that to reset meant that the country returned to the foundational values of integrity, discipline, patriotism and love for one another and the nation Ghana.
He said: “The National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving is a day set aside not only to express gratitude to God, but to reflect deeply on our journey as a nation and seek divine direction for the road ahead.”
This united act of worship and gratitude was an affirmation that faith was a cornerstone of the country’s freedom and national progress, the Western Regional Minister stated.
He encouraged the people to continue to pray for the leaders, saying; “Let us intercede for all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.”
Intercessory prayers were said for the nation and its leaders as well as citizens with thanksgiving worship and praises to God for his peace, protection and unity upon the country.
In attendance were some Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives, the clergy, security personnel, and the public among others to worship, pray and give thanks to the Lord.
