Africa-Press – Ghana. Ghanaian-born Belgian football star Jeremy Baffour Doku has thanked Ghanaians for their support and announced plans to give back to society.

The 23-year-old winger made this statement while paying a courtesy call to Mr Kofi Iddie Adams, Ghana’s Minister of Sports and Recreation in Accra, on Thursday, July 17, 2025.

The highly rated winger was accompanied by his father, Mr Davies Doku, and several other family members.

During the visit, Doku mentioned that he was very proud of his Ghanaian heritage and plans to return more and do more for the society.

“The visit is to introduce myself formally to the Ministry and express gratitude for the support Ghanaians have shown throughout my career.”

“I cannot shine unless people put me on. I am proud of my Ghanaian heritage, I speak Twi, and I plan to return home more often to give back,” Doku said.

The Sports Minister in his response welcomed the family, describing Doku as a global ambassador for Ghanaian excellence.

“Ghana may not field you in our national jersey, but every time you step on the pitch, Ghana is mentioned.

“Your discipline and humility on and off the field make you a powerful role model for our youth. The Ministry stands ready to support any initiative you pursue here,” said Mr Adams.

The delegation representative Lady Dentaa noted that the player had already undertaken charity visits to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and Achimota Hospital and intends to expand his philanthropic footprint across Ghana.

The brief engagement ended with an exchange of souvenirs and an invitation for Doku to attend upcoming youth football clinics organised by the Ministry.
