Africa-Press – Ghana. Residents of Anlo-Afiadenyigba in Keta Municipality have praised the government and Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson for prioritising the rehabilitation of their local roads and key infrastructure projects across the country.
They expressed appreciation for the inclusion of the Anlo-Afiadenyigba roads in the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review, describing it as a significant step toward improving infrastructure and boosting local economic activities.
Mr. Dzigbordi Sedem Borga, an ‘okada’ rider at the Anlo-Afiadenyigba junction, told that the road rehabilitation forms part of the government’s Big Push Programme, which aims to improve critical infrastructure across the country.
“The Ministry of Finance has issued commitment authorisations for road projects, including the rehabilitation of the Afiadenyigba-Penyi road, which is a welcome initiative,” he said.
He noted that the road linking Anlo-Afiadenyigba to Kpetoe is vital for the movement of people and goods, and its rehabilitation would ease transportation challenges, promote trade, and improve living conditions in the area.
Mr. Borga added that the current state of the road poses safety risks to drivers and commuters, including frequent accidents and health hazards caused by dust from the unpaved surface.
Mr. George Abor, another resident, said the government’s move reflects its commitment to addressing infrastructure deficits in the Volta Region.
“We appreciate the government’s efforts. This development will positively impact our daily lives and the local economy,” he said.
He described the Big Push Programme as a comprehensive initiative aimed at revitalising key sectors, particularly road infrastructure, to enhance regional connectivity and stimulate economic growth.
Mr. Abor praised Dr. Ato Forson for his role in securing funding and ensuring the project receives the needed attention, saying his efforts are instrumental in addressing long-standing challenges in the community.
Other residents told that improved roads will facilitate better access to markets, improve transportation of goods, and create job opportunities, thereby promoting sustainable development in the area.
The Ministry of Finance has also issued commitment authorisations for other road projects under the Big Push Programme in the region. These include the:
Anlo-Afiadenyigba to Penyi Road, Penyi to Aflao Road, and Ho to Kpetoe Road.
Meanwhile, some economic experts who spoke praised Dr. Forson’s Mid-Year Budget Review, describing it as clear, practical, and free from political rhetoric or complex jargon. They called on the government to continue implementing sound economic policies to enhance investor confidence and drive national development.
