Africa-Press – Ghana. Prof. Elijah Yendaw, Acting. Director General of the Management Development and Productivity Institute (MDPI), says he is focused on restructuring the institute to optimise productivity.

He said this during an internal reshuffle where some staff were reassigned to new roles according to their skill sets to improve the activities of the organisation.

The new reassignment includes Mr Lambert Zantira Ajongbah, Ag. Director Consultancy; Mr Benjamin Saka Myers, Ag. Director Training; and Kwadwo Boateng (PhD), Ag. Director Research & Productivity.

Others include Mr Isaac Odoom, Head of Dept of General Management; Mr Eric Sarfo Danquah, Head of Department of Business Dev’t; and Mr Richard Eto, Head of Dept of FM/MLS.

According to Prof. Yendaw, he was appointed to head the institution to contribute to the reset agenda by President John Dramani Mahama and also the 24-hour economy, where they would play a critical role.

“I was appointed to come here to see how we could restructure the MDPI, and I can’t disappoint the President who believed in me to transform the institute.

“What I will do here is about transparency and conviction and not target anyone. One thing that kills organisations is backstabbing, and I entreat staff not to go that route but to work collectively for the betterment of the organisation,” he said.

Prof. Yendaw also engaged representatives from Berkha Africa who paid him a courtesy call to explore areas of capacity building, research, consultancy and management training.

“We explored areas where we think we can work together, especially in the area of supporting the government’s resetting agenda, particularly the 24-hour economy.

“We want to look at the area of human capital readiness to be able to successfully execute the 24-hour economy, and we seek partnership with Berkha Africa to see how best we can collaborate,” he said.

Dr Senyo Yao Kluste of Berkha Africa said the call on the Director-General was to explore collaborative effort to transform the attitudinal change of the public sector as well as the private sector.

He said Berkha Africa had a series of programmes to pursue this agenda, and MDPI would be crucial partners so that the message of attitudinal change could trickle down to the people who matter in national development.
