Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr Paul Collins Appiah-Ofori, a former Member of Parliament and renowned anti-corruption crusader, has endorsed Dr Bryan Acheampong as Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the party’s presidential primaries in January 2026.
He described Dr Acheampong, the Former Minister of Food and Agriculture, as his “second son” and urged party faithful and Ghanaians to support him to lead both the NPP and the country.
Mr Appiah-Ofori made the remarks when members of the United Grassroots Delegates Club for Dr Bryan Acheampong paid a courtesy call on him at his residence in Accra.
“Bryan is my son, my second born. Let us pray for Bryan to win the elections and put things in order so young people will have faith in the country. Ghana used to be a prosperous nation. Now things are bad,” he said.
He commended Dr Acheampong for reaching out to him, adding that the gesture showed humility and respect for elders in the Party.
“Bryan has surprised me. I thank him for remembering me. I pray that when he becomes President, he will govern well in the interest of the nation,” he stated.
Mr Appiah-Ofori rallied support for the former Minister of Agriculture, noting that good governance and anti-corruption must define his leadership.
“I advise Bryan to adopt honesty. Corruption should be thrown out. Campaign for him to succeed and when he becomes President, I pray that he makes good governance and anti-corruption his hallmark,” he added.
He also reminded the youth that they stood to lose the most if corruption was allowed to flourish.
“If leaders destroy the country, it is you the younger ones who will suffer for it. So, I am against corruption and those whose intention is to amass wealth at the expense of the country,” he said.
The NPP is set to elect its Flagbearer for the 2028 general elections in January next year. Dr Acheampong is among the leading contenders in a race expected to attract strong competition within the opposition party.
Mr Appiah-Ofori urged delegates and party members to give Dr Acheampong their full support, saying his presidency could restore Ghana’s hope and prosperity.
Dr. Michael Kyeremanteng, the National Convenor, United Grassroots Delegates Club for Dr Bryan Acheampong, said Mr Appiah-Ofori’s anti-corruption ideals and principles were exemplary, hence the decision to visit him.
He said Dr Bryan Achemapong shared in those ideals and appealed to delegates to choose a leader who had the Party at heart and had the ability to clinch victory for the NPP in 2028.
