Africa-Press – Ghana. Ms Fuseini Fadila, the Executive Director of the Tiyumba Hope Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in Tamale, has received a Transformative Leadership Award at a regional conference held in Lomé, Togo.
The award was in recognition of her commitment towards advancing inclusive development and promoting gender justice, especially at the grassroots level, where women and vulnerable groups often face systemic challenges.
The ceremony, organised by the Faith to Action Network, formed part of its Regional Conference on Leadership and Gender Justice, which brought together faith leaders, civil society organisations, and development actors from 15 West and Central African countries that are signatories to the Network.
Ms Fuseini, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Tamale after receiving the award, expressed her appreciation to Faith to Action Network for acknowledging her work, describing the honour as both humbling and motivating.
She said the recognition would inspire her and her team to deepen their efforts in championing gender justice and community transformation across northern Ghana and beyond.
She said “This award is not just for me but for every woman and girl in our communities, who continue to strive for equal rights and opportunities. It will spur us to work harder to dismantle the barriers that hold back progress and to ensure that development is inclusive for all.”
The Faith to Action Network Regional Conference on Leadership and Gender Justice served as a platform for sharing best practices, building partnerships, and strengthening the collective resolve of stakeholders to tackle gender-based inequalities in the sub-region.
The Tiyumba Hope Foundation under Ms Fuseini’s leadership had been actively engaged in initiatives such as promoting girls’ education, enhancing women’s participation in decision-making, and supporting community resilience programmes.
Ms Fuseini said her recognition at the regional level was an affirmation of the impact of grassroots leadership in shaping broader regional change.
