Africa-Press – Ghana. The Church of Pentecost, Sogakope Area has launched its new Ministry dubbed ‘Ministry to Okada Riders’ as part of the Church’s Vision 2028 agenda to possess the nation for Christ.

The event, which recorded several dignitaries and key stakeholders, was aimed at ensuring the peace and safety of members, particularly motor riders, in society.

Pastor Edward Brains Agidi-Quarshie, the Sogakope Area Head during the launch at Sogakope Central auditorium of the Church, explained that the new Ministry would provide the avenue to fellowship together by sharing the gospel of Christ with all riders including those in the commercial sector popularly known as ‘okada’ riders.

He stated that it remained their mandate to carry the gospel to every corner of the world, adding that the new ministry was intended to affect souls to surrender their lives to Christ.

“We will pray and share the gospel with them. There will be training sessions to offer support in any form for their welfare and safety on the road as well as providing counselling whenever necessary.”

Pastor Agidi-Quarshie further appealed to members of the Church to support the new Ministry to accomplish its mandate to the glory of God.

Mrs Victoria Dzeklo, the Municipal Chief Executive for South Tongu and a member of the Church, expressed appreciation to Mr John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic for embracing the ‘okada’ business as the government worked to provide them with legal backing.

She further assured residents within the Municipality of the government’s provision under the Big Push Agenda to fix selected town roads in the area, where issues of accidents would be reduced.

Mr Mensah Kobena Woyome, the former Member of Parliament for South Tongu, who witnessed the event, assured the church of his readiness to champion the ‘okada’ riders’ agenda of the Church “since this will bring growth and other opportunities to the youth and all.”

Pastor Prosper Kpeli, the Sogakope Area Coordinator of the new Ministry, disclosed to the Ghana News Agency that all the 20 Districts of the Church under the area would have roles to play in promoting the gospel through the new Ministry.

Participants were drawn from the various motor riding unions within the area who joined members of the Church to launch a new Ministry.

There were several presentations from key stakeholders including, DVLA, security services, and the National leadership of Okada Riders Association of Ghana (ORAG).
