Takorase Assembly Member Supports Local Market Women

Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr Dominic Bonsu, Assembly Member for the Takorase Electoral Area in the Amansie South district of the Ashanti Region, has provided financial support to some market women in his electoral area.

The support amounting to GHc 268,000.00, will serve as a grant to 268 market women to help boost their business operations and improve on their livelihoods.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony at Takorase, Mr Bonsu explained that, the initiative was part of a campaign promise he made when contesting for the Assembly Member position.

He noted that fulfilling the pledge was a demonstration of his commitment to the economic empowerment of women in the electoral area.

“I promised during my campaign that I would support market women to strengthen their businesses if I was given the mandate.Today, I am fulfilling that promise.

“This support is free of charge, and I urge the beneficiaries to use the money for its intended purpose so that their businesses can grow,” Mr Bonsu said.

The Assembly Member also pledged to make the gesture an annual initiative, stressing that, empowering women in business was central to his vision for local development.

He called on other leaders and philanthropists to emulate the example by investing in community welfare projects that directly touched lives.

Some of the market women who received the support expressed profound gratitude to the Assembly Member, describing the intervention as timely and life-changing.

They assured him that the money would be used wisely to expand their businesses.

“This is the first time we are receiving such direct support from a leader.

“We are very grateful, and we promise to use the money responsibly to expand our businesses,” one of the beneficiaries stated.

The well-attended ceremony drew community members, opinion leaders, and traders, all of whom commended Mr Bonsu for keeping his word and for demonstrating true grassroots leadership.
