Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr. Francis Owusu Antwi, the Bono East Regional Minister, says all is set for the construction of 11 model markets across the various Municipal and Districts Assemblies (MDCEs) to spur rapid socio-economic growth and development of the region.

He said on completion, the markets would not only boost trade and commerce but also create employment opportunities for the people too.

Mr Antwi said this when Naa Zakari Musah Baki V, the President of the Bono East Regional Dagomba Chiefs Council, paid a courtesy on him at Techiman.

Mr Antwi said each of the MDCEs would benefit from a standard market.

The Regional Minister explained that the government had also approved for the construction of additional 11 Community-based Health Planning Service (CHPS) compounds in the region to improve healthcare delivery, saying many of the road networks in the region had also been earmarked for reconstruction under the government’s Big Push road infrastructure project.

Mr Antwi said plans were also advanced for the construction of a Technical University in the region.

He called on the people to support the government to advance the progressive development of the region.

He said the government remained committed to enlist the unemployed youth into security services like the Ghana Armed Forces, Prisons, Customs, Fire, Police and the Immigration services.

Mr Antwi urged prospective applicants to pass through the enlistment processes and avoid the use of “middlemen” who could defraud them.

He noted that chieftaincy disputes threatened peace and social cohesion and urged the chiefs in the area to help preserve the prevailing peace of the region for thriving development.

On his part, Naa Baki V, who was accompanied by some Dagomba chiefs, stressed the readiness and commitment of the Dagombas in the area to support the development of the region.
