Africa-Press – Ghana. The former Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has promised to create a comprehensive welfare data system for the NPP, if the delegates endorse him as the Election 2028 flagbearer.
He said the sacrifices and contributions of party individuals ought to be recognised, rewarded, and compensated.
Alhaji Dr Bawumia gave the promise gave when he addressed polling station officers, electoral area coordinators, and branch executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Dormaa Central Constituency at a meeting at Dormaa-Ahenkro, as part of his campaign tour to the Bono Region.
He was accompanied by Mr Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, former Majority Leader, Nana Akomea, former Chief Executive Officer of the State Transport Corporation (STC), Mr Kwame Baffoe, and Bono Regional Chairman of the NPP.
Alhaji Dr Bawumia also addressed a similar meeting at Wamfie in the Dormaa West Constituency, saying the needs and concerns of the party members which often created tensions, disagreements, and controversies ought to be tackled.
He said the welfare data system was required to identify the loyal members who had sacrificed their life to growth and development of the NPP, saying, “people have different needs, and you can’t track what each member’s need without a comprehensive data system”.
Alhaji Dr Bawumia, who is going round the country to canvas votes, ahead of the NPP Election 2028 Presidential Primary scheduled for January 31, 2026, said electoral coordinator of the party would be the welfare coordinators in their respective constituencies.
The former Vice President said his government would also ensure that all deserving members of the party obtained jobs, saying, a review would be conducted quarterly to ascertain members who had no jobs.
He said 10 appointments would also be made for the positions of ministers and deputy ministers, Chief Executives for state institutions, ambassadors, and deputy ambassadors.
Alhaji Dr Bawumia said a committee comprising polling station executives, electoral area coordinators, council of elders and former council of elders and patrons would be constituted for the selection of those appointments.
The former Vice President was accompanied by Mr Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, former Majority Leader, Nana Akomea, former Chief Executive Officer of the State Transport Corporation (STC) among other party executives.
