Africa-Press – Ghana. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced plans to stage a testimonial match to honour former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan, celebrating his record-breaking career and contribution to Ghanaian football.

Details of the event would be announced later in collaboration with Gyan, who is Ghana’s all-time leading scorer, netting 51 goals in 109 appearances for the national team.

Nicknamed “Baby Jet,” Gyan also holds the record as Africa’s top scorer in FIFA World Cup history with six goals across three tournaments – Germany 2006, South Africa 2010 and Brazil 2014.

The striker’s club career spanned Europe, Asia and the Middle East, including stints at Udinese in Italy, Rennes in France, Sunderland in England, Al Ain and Al Ahli in the UAE, Shanghai SIPG in China and Kayserispor in Turkey.

He ended his professional career at Legon Cities in Ghana, cementing an illustrious career and one of Africa’s most celebrated footballers.

The upcoming testimonial is expected to draw fans and former teammates for a memorable farewell.
