Africa-Press – Ghana. The Chief Executive Officer of the Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA), Dr Andy Osei Okrah, has engaged cashew value chain actors in the Jaman South Municipality as part of efforts to promote the Authority’s mandate and address challenges within the sector.
The meeting, held at Drobo in the Bono Region, brought together cashew farmers, processors, aggregators, association leaders, traditional authorities and representatives from security agencies to deepen understanding of TCDA regulations, pricing mechanisms and licensing requirements.
Dr Okrah said the Authority was implementing strategic measures to reposition the cashew industry as a major economic contributor under the government’s tree crops development agenda.
He said, “Cashew remains one of the six selected tree crops with high potential for job creation, value addition and improved livelihoods, hence the need for stronger collaboration among stakeholders.”
The CEO said the engagements were being replicated across cashew-growing areas to enhance compliance and increase awareness of TCDA activities for the overall growth of the sector.
Mr Joseph Bashir Asibi, the Municipal Coordinating Director, who welcomed the TCDA delegation, commended the initiative and pledged the Assembly’s support for activities that would boost local cashew production and trade.
