Berekum West Assembly Gets 10,000 Coconut Seedlings

Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr. Collins Asomah, the Berekum West District Chief Executive in the Bono Region says the Assembly has received 10,000 coconut hybrid seedlings for onward distribution to farmers in the district.

Speaking in an interview at Suntreso, a farming community in the district capital, Mr. Asomah said the seedlings were expected to mature within three years.

He said the distribution of coconut seedlings aligned with the government’s efforts to make farming more attractive for the youth.

Mr Asomah said the government remained committed to creating economic opportunities and encourage more of the unemployed youth to engage in farming and coconut plantation to enhance their socio-economic livelihoods.

Mr Asomah stressed that the government’s reset Ghana agenda was progressing in the district, saying the Assembly had already distributed piglets to some youth engaged in piggery in the district.

He reminded the people that coconut farming was lucrative and a booming enterprise and urged the unemployed youth in the area to engage in planting coconut seedlings.
