Former Akan NPP Candidate Urges Support for Dr Bawumia

Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr Tassah Tapha Tassah, the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Akan Constituency in the Election 2024, has begged party delegates to vote massively for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, as the Presidential Candidate in the upcoming January 31, 2026 Presidential Primaries.

He said voting for Dr Bawumia as the party’s Presidential Candidate would strengthen its chances of winning back political power through the Election 2028.

Mr Tassah, an Accra-based private legal practitioner, told in an interview that Dr Bawumia’s proven track record, humility, and results-oriented leadership style made him the most suitable candidate to lead the party into the future.

He described Dr Bawumia as a visionary and hardworking leader who had demonstrated competence both as former Vice President and as a key figure in the NPP government, particularly in driving Ghana’s digital transformation agenda.

“Dr Bawumia has shown consistency, loyalty, and a deep understanding of the needs of Ghanaians. He is someone who connects well with the grassroots and remains committed to the ideals of the New Patriotic Party,” Mr Tassah said.

The former candidate further urged party members and supporters at all levels to rally behind the former Vice President to ensure continuity in leadership and unity within the NPP.

He emphasised that the 2026 primaries should be seen not as a contest of personalities, but as a decisive moment for the party to choose a leader capable of building on its achievements and delivering victory in 2028.

Mr Tassah, who accompanied Dr Bawumia to the Akan Constituency on Sunday, November 9, to campaign and engage delegates, also called on party members to foster a peaceful, respectful, and issue-driven internal process that would showcase the NPP’s democratic maturity and unity of purpose.

He said electing Dr Bawumia was not just about rewarding loyalty, but safeguarding the party’s future and ensuring Ghana continued a path of progress and innovation.
