Ghana Ends 2025 Kirin Cup Winless against South Korea

Africa-Press – Ghana. The Black Stars of Ghana ended their 2025 Kirin Cup campaign with a 1-0 defeat to South Korea on Tuesday, marking their second consecutive loss in the tournament. The Black Stars, beaten by Japan 2-0 last week, were hoping to bounce back but struggled against a disciplined Korean team in a tense encounter.

Ghana were without Antoine Semenyo and Mohammed Salisu, who withdrew from the squad, while midfielder Francis Abu remained sidelined after sustaining a serious injury in the Japan match.

Prince Kwabena Owusu appeared to have given Ghana the lead in the 55th minute, but his effort was ruled offside, offering relief to the Koreans. South Korea broke the deadlock eight minutes later when Tae-Seok Lee headed home from close range past goalkeeper Benjamin Asare.

Thomas Bradon Asante came close to equalizing with a long-range strike that narrowly missed the target. South Korea had a chance to double their advantage from the penalty spot, but Hwang Hee-Chan’s effort was saved by Asare.

The Koreans held firm to secure victory, leaving Ghana winless in the competition and raising questions about the team’s form ahead of next year’s World Cup.
