Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, a New Patriotic Party flagbearer aspirant, has pledged to streamline land title registration and promote youth-led environmental stewardship.
He said he also envisaged a modern, climate-smart agriculture sector where farming would be regarded as a dignified profession.
Mr Agyepong made the pledge while outlining six core strategic policies he said would define his administration if he won the party’s flagbearership on January 31 and subsequently the 2028 general election.
He said the six core policies were aimed at restoring hope, improving governance outcomes and repositioning the country on a path of inclusive and sustainable development.
The former General Secretary of the NPP described the six pillars as a “New Dawn Agenda” born from experience and intended to reverse policies that had “demoralized citizens” over the years.
He said his administration would enforce spatial planning regulations, transform chaotic urban sprawl into organised settlements and equip rural communities with essential amenities to modernise the country.
Mr Agyepong said he would prioritise the completion of existing projects before initiating new ones, curb wasteful spending and institutionalise a strong maintenance culture across government agencies.
He said promotions and appointments would be based strictly on performance.
“We’ll end the cycle of political patronage and build a strong and permanent state institutions of excellence and that serves only the people of Ghana,” he said.
Mr Agyepong proposed capping the Cabinet at 19 ministers with an equal number of deputies, appointing 16 regional ministers and limiting the number of Supreme Court judges to 11.
He also proposed abolishing the mandatory retirement age of 70 for judges to allow them to serve until they were physically unable.
Mr Agyepong said he planned to integrate the informal sector into the formal economy through support and incentives rather than punitive taxation.
He said creative professionals would benefit from strict copyright enforcement, while sports development would prioritise football, athletics and boxing, without neglecting other disciplines, to restore national pride in sports and the arts.
