Bui Tennis Club Inaugurates Patrons

Africa-Press – Ghana. The Bui Tennis Club (BTC) of the Bui Power Authority (BPA), managers of the Bui Generating Station (BGS), has inaugurated an 11-member group of patrons, with Mr Kow Eduakwa Sam, Chief Executive Officer of the BPA, serving as the chief patron.

Other members of the patronship are Mrs Jemima Fayah, Deputy CEO, Finance and Services; Mr Samuel Nimako-Boateng, Deputy CEO, Engineering Operations and Technical; Mr Kwaku Sarpong Akosa, Director, Engineering Services Department; Mr Pascal Kanbonnabah, Director, Human Resource; and Mr Peter Acheampong, Director, Renewable Energy Department.

The rest include Mr Justice Barnor Kyere, Director, Technical Services Department; Mr Eric Acheampong, Director, Commercial Services Department; Mr Chrisentus Bangkewa Kuunifaa, Director, Occupational Health, Safety and Environment; Mr Eric Sam, Director, Finance and Services; and Mr Maximillian Acquah, Director, Planning, Management and Evaluation.

At a brief ceremony held at the BGS plant site at Jama in the Bole-Bamboi District of the Savannah Region, Mr Wumbilla Salifu, Chairman of the BTC and Director, Estates, BPA, said the club, formed three years ago, currently has 43 members.

He said the members comprised BPA personnel working both in Accra and at the dam site, and commended retired Warrant Officer One (WO1) Emmanuel Adjetey Adjei, the club’s coach, whose commitment led to the formation of the club.

Mr Salifu added that the club had identified and nurtured the talents of 15 youngsters within the dam’s enclave and expressed the club’s determination to support the discovery and grooming of more tennis talents in the area.

Mr Duah Isaac Aboagye, President of the Ghana Tennis Federation and guest of honour, lauded the establishment of the BTC and praised its efforts in developing young tennis players, acknowledging the contribution of Ex-WO1 Adjei.

As part of the inauguration, the BTC organised a tennis competition at the Bui Dam tennis court, featuring the BTC, the Techiman Holy Family Tennis Club, the Wa Tennis Club, the Techiman Tennis Club, and several youngsters.

The BTC and the GTF later presented citations and a plaque to Ex-WO1 Adjei at a dinner that climaxed the two-day competition.

The event was attended by Mr Charles Lwanga Puozuing, Upper West Regional Minister, and representatives of the Tactical Air Command (TAC), Bui, including Mr Kwabena Kissiedu Atiemo.
