President Mahama Departs for 39Th AU Summit

Africa-Press – Ghana. President John Dramani Mahama has departed Accra for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to participate in the 39th Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU).

President Mahama, who is leading a number of key engagements for the Union in areas including reparations, gender and financial inclusion, will also co-host several high-level side events during the Summit.

A statement issued by the Presidency indicated that the President, who left the country on Thursday evening-February 12, will on Saturday, February 14, host a breakfast meeting on the Accra Reset initiative, dubbed “Addis Reckoning.”

During his stay in Addis Ababa, President Mahama is expected to hold bilateral discussions with fellow African leaders and heads of multilateral organisations, as well as participate in an Italy-Africa Forum.

The First Lady, Mrs Lordina Dramani Mahama, is also in Addis Ababa to attend the Summit of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD).

President Mahama and the First Lady are expected to return to Accra on Monday, February 16.
