Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr Peter Awere, has been elected as the new Presiding Member for the Amansie South District Assembly after securing a resounding victory in a closely contested election held at the Assembly’s meeting hall.

Mr Awere was elected after a second round of elections which saw him securing 35 votes against his main contender, Mr Emmanuel Owusu, who had 2 votes.

In the first round election, Mr Awere had 22 votes while Mr Owusu had 15 votes.

Mr Benjamin Marfo, the District Chief Executive (DCE), commended the assembly members for their participation and unity during the electoral process.

He expressed optimism about the collaboration between his office and the newly elected Presiding Member, emphasising that both would work closely to accelerate development across the Amansie South District.

Mr Awere, in his acceptance of remarks, expressed deep appreciation to the Assembly Members for the confidence reposed in him.

He pledged to serve with integrity, inclusiveness, and dedication, adding that he would work diligently with all stakeholders to promote development and strengthen unity within the Assembly.

He assured that his leadership would prioritise consensus-building and cooperation to advance the district’s developmental agenda.

Mr Samuel Amponsah, the outgoing presiding member, urged members to give their full support to the newly elected Presiding Member.

He encouraged them to remain united and committed to the development of the district, emphasising that effective leadership required collaboration and shared responsibility.
