The Methodist Church Ghana has commissioned 90 newly ordained Ministers to commence probationary ministry in circuits across the country.The Ministers, comprising 81 men and nine women, were decorated with clerical collars and presented with Bibles and certificates as symbols of their call to ministry and commitment to service.
The Most Reverend Professor J. Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, urged the Ministers to remain steadfast in their Christian calling by abiding in Christ and living lives worthy of the Gospel.
“Ministry is not a one-time event but a lifelong journey of faith, spiritual growth and obedience to God,” he said.
Speaking on the theme: “Let all my fruits be found of thee: Ministry and Fruit”, Most Rev. Asamoah-Gyadu encouraged them to bear good fruits through exemplary personal and moral conduct.
He said their character and actions should inspire others and reflect the teachings of Christ.
Most Rev. Asamoah-Gyadu admonished the Ministers to uphold holiness, integrity and humility, and avoid falsehood, empty rhetoric and behaviours that could undermine their calling.
He urged them to take the gifts and graces of the Holy Spirit seriously, noting that spiritual empowerment was essential for effective ministry and service to the Church.
The Presiding Bishop also called on the Ministers to be fruitful in their pastoral work by preaching the Gospel faithfully, winning souls and providing quality pastoral care.
He encouraged them to nurture and support others with compassion, reminding them that ministry was about being a blessing to people and helping them grow in faith.
Most Rev. Asamoah-Gyadu advised the Ministers to cherish their families, especially their spouses, and extend the love and blessings they received from God to those around them.
He emphasised that true Christian leadership required sacrifice, generosity and service, urging them to use their time, talents and resources to advance God’s kingdom.
The Presiding Bishop reminded the newly ordained Ministers that Jesus expected them to remain united with Him and guided by the Holy Spirit throughout their ministry, praying for God’s grace and blessings upon their lives and service.
