Africa-Press – Ghana. In recent years, this is the biggest Kumasi derby as Kotoko and King Faisal are occupying the first and second positions respectively.
Kotoko will stay ahead with a victory, and if King Faisal takes three points at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, they will surpass Kotoko.
Kotoko dropped points for the first time this season last weekend when they drew goalless with Karela United.
The Porcupine Warriors, however, see themselves as favourite and are poised to extend their lead at the summit.
King Faisal have exceeded expectations. Nobody predicted their current position at this stage of the season and it doesn’t mind results in their last two games (a draw and defeat) they look like a team capable of causing Kotoko problems.
“The Kotoko game is not a difficult one as people are thinking, we are going to beat Kotoko on Sunday with or without Osman and Emmanuel Sarkodie,” King Faisal owner Alhaji Grusah is absolutely confident.
“With this sponsorship from Kennedy Digital Satellite, we will win the league as I said last season that we will avoid relegation, we are winning the league this season.”
Their three wins have come against WAFA, Aduana Stars and AshantiGold. An impressive achievement considering all three are strong competitors and can draw inspiration from it to cause a massive upset against Kotoko.
King Faisal’s last win against Kotoko in the league came in 2014. Since then, the latter has spent more time in the second-tier than the top-flight. When they met last season, Kotoko picked up four points.
