Berlin court finds Russian government ordered man's assasination

Africa-Press – Ghana. Berlin, Dec 15, (dpa/GNA) – The assassination of a Georgian of Chechen origin in Berlin more than two years ago, was carried out on behalf of Russian state authorities according to a court in Berlin.

Prosecutors had argued that the crime was a politically motivated act, and the killer had carried out a “state order to kill” on German soil. The murder, on August 23, 2019, came in retaliation for the man’s participation in the second Chechen war.

The man, a Georgian of Chechen origin who had been living in Germany as an asylum seeker since the end of 2016, had been classified as a Chechen terrorist by Russian authorities.
