Africa-Press – Ghana. Ghana midfielder Majeed Ashimeru wants Ivory Coast forward Christian Kouame to stay at Anderlecht at the end of his loan stint.

The Ivorian forward is on a season long loan from Fiorentina, and has been a key part of Anderlecht’s campaign, helping the Belgium giants reach the final of the Belgium Cup.

Ashimeru, who has been on a good run of form for the Purple and White believes his relationship with Kouame can persuade him to stay.

“I spend a lot of time with Christian. I met him in the dressing room right after he signed. We got along right away. He helped me a lot in difficult times by telling me that we all had ups and downs and that we had to keep working with our heads held high, I tell him he should stay with Anderlecht after his loan,”: Ashimeru told La Capitale.

The former WAFA player is also happy with his current form at Anderlecht.

“I am happy with my current form,” he said. “I had to wait for my chance. Even though it was sometimes difficult, I never doubted that I was at the right club. I love Anderlecht and I love the city. I miss my family less than in Austria or Switzerland.”
