The Director General of National Lottery Authority (NLA), Kofi Osei-Ameyaw has appealed to the Ghana Police Service to continue its collaboration with his outfit to crackdown on illegal lottery in the country.
He observed that the operations of illegal lottery is depriving the state of the needed revenue for development which needs to be checked for which reason the police must support in this regard.
Speaking at the commissioning of an elevator for the six-storey building housing the CID Headquarters he observed that it is only when enough revenue is generated the NLA can embark on its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) underscoring the need for concerted efforts in dealing with the situation head on.
“The National Lottery Authority as you are all aware has been working with the Police Service for so many years in terms of compliance. Especially those who are engaged in illegal lottery operation and thereby depriving the nation of needed revenue for national development. We take up some of these CSR like we are doing today”
He added “The cooperation and that relationship that existed between us must continue so that we can realize more revenue to support some of the projects that are required by you to be able to do your core work properly”
The CID Headquarters building, which has been in use since the 1990s has been without an elevator for almost three decades. Under the leadership of the 32nd Director General COP Mrs. Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo – Danquah, an elevator was constructed for the six-storey, with financial support from the National Lottery Authority (NLA).
