Africa-Press – Ghana. Highly-rated Ghana youngster Abdul Fatawu Issahaku will have to wait until next season to feature for Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon.

Issahaku who turned 18 recently has not been registered by the club for either first team or youth teams, hence he will have to continue impressing in training.

Even though he arrived at the green and white club as a junior in mid-February, Fatawu can only be registered in the next transfer window.

Sporting Lisbon has secured Fatawu for the next four seasons and in this adaptation phase, the Black Stars player was integrated into the secondary levels, that is, in the Under-23 and B teams.

It is at this moment that Fatawu has to adapt to the club and Portuguese football, in a process that will take a few more months and that still aims at its tactical growth.

As far as it was possible to determine, the African, although not polished and already on point for European professional football, is showing skills, especially in the shooting chapter. Fatawu has even impressed with his shooting ease, power and placement.

The adaptation process, however, will pause briefly. Fatawu is in the future plans of the Ghana national team and head coach Otto Addo has invited him for the 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff against Nigeria.

The recently turned 18-year-old, impressed at Ghana Premier League side Dreams FC in the first round of the ongoing campaign.

He scored six times and as a result, earned a call-up to the Black Stars squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations held in Cameroon earlier this year.

He was a member of Ghana’s Under-20 side that won the Africa Cup of Nations last year, where he won the Most Valuable Player of the tournament while scoring twice for the Black Satellites en route to winning the title.

Issahaku has previously been linked to some of Europe’s heavyweight clubs including Liverpool but the nimble-footed attacking midfielder opted to join the defending Portuguese champions.
