Africa-Press – Ghana. Ghana midfielder Majeed Ashimeru says he is looking forward to the Belgian Cup final as Anderlecht come up against Gent on April 18.

Ashimeru is enjoying a great season and he would love to end it with a trophy after playing an important role in the club’s run to the final.

He was briefly out of the picture at Anderlecht but is now completely back in the team. And the fans seem to appreciate that.

“I feel good in my own skin again. It’s been so long since I reached this level. Lately, my inbox has been full of messages from supporters,” Ashimeru tells HLN.

The cup final is therefore definitely in Ashimeru ‘s agenda. “That would be the greatest achievement of my career so far. I already won prizes in Salzburg, but here the competition is a lot bigger. It would be a dream come true.”

The 24 has contributed three goals in his last five league games. His defence-splitting pass was converted by Joshua Zirkzee in the club’s 2-1 win over Antwerp last weekend.

“I’m happy with the team, but also with my own performance and a new assist,” Ashimeru told reporters after the game.midfielder

Anderlecht have been superb since Ashimeru became a starter with the midfielder playing a key role in their six wins and a draw in the past seven games.

However, the former WAFA player insists there is more work to be done.

“We can certainly be even better and more efficient, but we’re taking it game by game,” said Ashimeru.

He has registered three goals and two assists this season.

Ashimeru could be included in the Black Stars squad for the 2022 World Cup playoff against Nigeria after missing out on the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year.

Black Stars host Nigeria on March 25 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi before travelling to Abuja for the second leg on March 29.
