Ghana star Jordan Ayew eyes more goals after scoring in Crystal Palace win against Arsenal

Africa-Press – Ghana. Ghana striker Jordan Ayew is aiming for more goals after scoring his second of the season in Crystal Palace’s Premier League triumph over Arsenal on Monday night.

Ayew scored a superb second as the Eagles condemned the Gunners to a 3-0 at Selhurst Park. The Ghanaian got away from two Arsenal defenders and bent a shot beyond Aaron Ramsdale.

“It’s a lovely pass [from Joachim Andersen],” he told Palace TV+.

“Obviously it’s on my left foot – people give me stick about my left foot, but today I think I showed them that I have a good left foot.”

“I just slotted it in. I’m very happy, and I hope it’s not the last goal I score. I hope there is more to come in the next few games.

“I’m pleased. As soon as I came back from AFCON, I didn’t really have game time, and today I had my opportunity so I’m happy to have taken it and happy to score as well.

“It has not been easy but we keep on pushing and working, and we’re happy it paid off.”

The goal was Jordan’s first in 2022. He failed to score for Ghana earlier this year at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations and was heavily criticised following the team’s shock first round exit.

His status did not improve before re-joining the Black Stars for the 2022 World Cup playoffs against Nigeria last month.

Ghanaians booed Ayew in the first leg in Kumasi for failing to score as the game finished 0-0.

However, Ayew did quite well in the second leg in Abuja as a crucial 1-1 draw ensured Black Stars secured qualification for World Cup in Qatar.
