The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Oforikrom in the Ashanti Region, Dr. Emmanuel Marfo appears to have woken up from his slumber following the hefty defeat of two colleague MPs in the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s parliamentary primaries held over the week.
“I take lessons from Joseph Yileh Chireh [incumbent MP Wa West] and Ras Mubarak [ MP Kumbumgu] defeat”, he revealed when he spoke on ‘Kumasi FM’s Evening Political talk show hosted by Nana Yaw Mensah Joel monitored by Africa-press.com/ghana/.
According to Hon. Emmanuel Marfo, who is also seeking for reelection to represent the constituent on NPP ticket the loss of Ras Mubarak, Hon. Joseph Yileh Chireh and other experienced lawmakers will negatively affect Parliament as a law making institution
“I am also a first time lawmaker therefore and may cut down some of my parliamentary duties so I can have fruitful interaction with my people”, Hon. Emmanuel Marfo hinted the host.
Hon .Joseph Yileh Chireh was floored by Superintendent Peter Lanchene Tuubo, an ex-Executive Secretary to former Inspector-General of Police, David Asante-Apeatu in the NDC parliamentary primaries
In Kumbungu Constituency, the sitting MP, Ras Mubarak lost his bid to contest on the ticket of NDC in the 2020 parliamentary election as he was defeated by one Dr. Hamza Adam, a lecturer at the University of Development Studies (UDS).
Dr Hamza Adam polled 401 votes as against the incumbent’s 273 and 81 votes for the third candidate Baba Abdulai.
