Africa-Press – Ghana. Ghana’s Solomon Kweku Hammond has qualified for the World Under-20 Athletics Championship, after making a time of 10. 53 in the finals of the U-20 100m event in the ongoing Confederation of Africa Athletics (Region II) Athletics Championship in Cape Coast.
The championship, organized for 15 African countries also serves as the qualification mark for the World Championship in Colombia. The qualification mark set is 10.60s, of which Solomon Hammond managed to beat the time as he prepares to represent Ghana at the international championship.
Hammond has been amazing for some time now after winning the men’s Zonal I Circuit Championship 200m in 21.32 seconds early this year at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale.
Ibrahim Fuseini also finished behind Solomon making a time of 10.73, but his effort was not enough to qualify for the World Championship. Hammond would be among the team to represent Ghana at the Athletics U-20 Championship slated for Cali, Colombia on August 2, 2022.
