Africa-Press – Ghana. Anderlecht winger Francis Amuzu is set to undergo a medical at French Lique 1 outfit Nice. The 22-year-old Nottingham Forest target is joining the side for less than £10 million; with a fee of £8.5 million being quoted by French news outlet Nice-Matin.
Nice have offered €8 million to sign the son of former Hearts of Oak and Ghana U17 player Theophilus ‘Star’ Amuzu.
Amuzu, who has Ghanaian roots but plays for Belgium, is open to the transfer because he believes he would get regular playing time. The 22-year-old is said to have come close to joining Troyes in July.
Last season, the winger netted 9 goals in 37 matches for the Purple and Whites. Amuzu is valued at €5.5 million by Transfermarkt with two years remaining on his current contract with Belgian giants.
Amuzu does look like a bright player for the future. Indeed, he’s joining a club with sizeable ambitions; with the Ligue 1 outfit having added Kasper Schmeichel and Aaron Ramsey to their ranks ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
Amuzu has risen through the ranks at Anderlecht. He’s a product of their academy and has made 156 appearances for the first team, scoring 19 goals and laying on a further 17 in the way of assisting goals for others.
The left-footed winger has made a strong start to 2022/23. He scored twice on Sunday as Anderlecht defeated RFC Seraing 3-1, whilst he’s also registered one assist during a UEFA Conference League qualifier against Paide.
Amuzu enjoyed the best season of his career during 2021/22. He scored 10 goals and claimed five assists as Anderlecht endured a surprisingly tough campaign finishing fourth in the table.
