Ghana’s Tahiru Haruna and Isaac Obeng to compete in Cairo Para Powerlifting World Cup

Africa-Press – Ghana. A delegation from the Ghana Para Powerlifting Team, known as the BlackOptimists, is set to compete in the Cairo 2023 World Para Powerlifting World Cup.

The delegation, led by coach Frank Toulassi and featuring athletes Tahiru Haruna and Isaac Obeng, departed from Accra for the competition, which will take place in Egypt from November 3 to November 5, 2023.

The World Cup event is a significant part of the qualification process for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. The team’s participation is fully sponsored by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Ghana.

Frank Toulassi, the team’s coach, expressed the goal of qualifying at least seven athletes from Ghana for the prestigious Paralympic event. This competition is a crucial step in the qualification journey for these athletes.
