Africa-Press – Ghana. Member of Parliament for Akim Abuakwa South Samuel Atta Akyea, has dispelled reports that the Minister of Roads and Highways and Member of Parliament for Atiwa West, Kwasi Amoako-Attah was not present during the address of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Following the major address of the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) on Wednesday Febraury 7, reports went round that several ministers including Mr Amoako-Attah abandoned the event.

The reports cited the cousin of President Akufo-Addo Gabby Otchere Darko as also missing from the event.

Secretary to the President, Nana Asante Bediatuo as well as other clan members of the ‘Ofori-Atta dynasty’ did not show up.

In his measured response, Mr Atta Akyea told journalists that that while he cannot presume to speak on behalf of all absent members, attributing their nonattendance to mere coincidence remains a plausible conjecture.

Each individual, he emphasized, may have had distinct reasons for their absence, beyond the surface-level interpretation.

Furthermore, he said “Contrary to erroneous reports, Hon. Amoako Atta was not only in attendance but also comfortably seated well before the commencement of the program.”
