Africa-Press – Ghana. The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana, Jean Mensa, says her outfit has learnt from its mistakes as regards publishing data on the ongoing limited voter registration exercise.
The EC was forced, a few times, to correct data it had already put out on the exercise after the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) said that it rather had the correct data.
Many analysts have criticized the EC for getting the basics wrong. But answering a question posed by Beatrice Adu during a special engagement with news managers on Tuesday, May 28, 2014, the EC Chair, Jean Mensa said that the commission has decided to use Excel moving forward, instead of corel draw to ensure it does not repeat such mistakes.

“We have abandoned Corel Draw and now using excel and very rigorous methods for accurate data,” she assured.
The Electoral Commission Chair went on to give details of the decision and added
“the Commission did not rest on its oars. Did it? What the Commission did was to correct the figures and to inform the public. Whilst I do not hold brief for the team, because they were relying on coral draw,…..and so what we have done is to go back to the drawing board and use Excel.”
