Africa-Press – Ghana. Meta has unveiled two new monetization tools today, In-Stream Ads on Facebook and Ads on Facebook Reels, aimed at eligible creators in Nigeria and Ghana.
These features mark Meta’s latest effort to empower African creators to earn revenue while fostering community engagement through original content.
Moon Baz, Global Partnerships Lead for Africa, Middle East, and Turkey (AMET) at Meta, highlighted the significance of these additions, stating, “We are continually inspired by the creativity of African creators who use Facebook to share their stories, connect with others, and build communities. This expansion aims to support the vibrant creative industries in Nigeria and Ghana, setting new standards for global creativity and solidifying Meta’s family of apps as the go-to platform for all creators.”
In-stream ads and Facebook reel ads
In-stream ads on Facebook will enable creators to monetize their videos by displaying ads before, during, or after their content, whether pre-recorded videos or recordings of previous live streams. These ads include Pre-roll, Mid-roll, Image, and Post-roll formats.
Ads on Facebook Reels integrate directly into original Reels, allowing creators to earn based on the performance of their engaging short videos.
Effective immediately, eligible creators in Nigeria and Ghana can start earning from their video and reel content, supporting over 30 languages globally. To qualify for these features, creators must adhere to Meta’s Partner Monetisation Policies and Content Monetisation Policies and be at least 18 years old. Creators interested in In-Stream Ads need a minimum of 5,000 followers to be eligible.
This initiative reflects Meta’s commitment to enhancing opportunities for creators across Africa, leveraging innovative tools to drive creativity, engagement, and economic empowerment.
