Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr. Ludwig Teye Totimeh, the Deputy Constituency Secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Tema West, has received unanimous votes from assembly members to be the first male Tema West Municipal Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Totimeh received 100 per cent yes votes from the 16 assembly members comprising 11 elected and five government appointee members.

He promised to work with the traditional councils, assembly members, unit committee members, and staff of the Tema West Municipal Assembly (TWMA) to develop the area to meet the dreams of residents.

Madam Linda Akweley Ocloo, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, and Mr. James Enu, the Tema West Member of Parliament (MP), prior to the voting, urged the assembly members to give Mr. Totimeh a 100 per cent vote to help develop the municipality.

Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Policy Advisor to President John Mahama, said the local government and decentralised system were important tools for Ghana’s development.

Mr. Ampofo stated that there was a need to build a very strong local government system that would support the national architecture in terms of the implementation of policies that guide the day-to-day survival of Ghanaians.

He reminded the assembly members that they have a crucial role to play by supporting the president and the MCE to help address the many challenges the young assembly faces.
